Erie County reports damaged bridge in county forest

Erie County officials are warning hikers to be careful if they hit the trails.

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — Erie County is warning hikers to pay attention if they head out to the Bureau of Forestry near Sardinia.

A social media posts show a damaged bridge in Forestry Lot 1, near the Sugar Shack and the visitor center. The crossing is now closed county plans to repair the bridge this spring.

The Erie County Parks, Recreation & Forestry also announced Bridge Too Far and the footbridge in Forestry Lot 2 on the Scarbuck Trail are scheduled for repair this summer. Those crossings are still open.

Hikers are asked to report any issues they might see at the county forest or any park, to the main office at (716) 858-8355.
