The NY State Economic Development Corporation has confirmed a change in the deal it made with Tuscarora businessman Smokin’ Joe Anderson to acquire nearly three dozen of Anderson’s properties in downtown Niagara Falls.

The Quality Hotel, which was perhaps the most valuable of the properties the state agreed to buy, is now no longer part of the acquisition.

Reasons for the hotel being taken out of the package were not given.

Following up on a pledge made by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo nearly three years ago to acquire underutilized properties in the city’s tourist area (and spin them off for re-development) the state announced in August that it had approved the purchase of 32 buildings and parcels of land owned by Anderson for $25 million.
