Butterwood & Brioso restaurants close doors

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The owner of Butterwood Sweet & Savory at the Hotel Lafayette says she is reaching out to customers who ordered cakes and had banquets booked to give them their deposits back.

Claire Bacon told us she is helping her customers find other vendors. She is referring brides to Dessert Deli, Muscoreil's Fine Desserts, Ohlson's Bakery, and Carriage Trade Pastries. Bacon says she has worked with several of those bakeries before.

Deposits are expected to be returned to customers in mid to late May.

She also says she has no plans in the near future to reopen Butterwood.

It closed its doors this month after opening in that location in 2012. Originally, Butterwood was expected to reopen later this Spring after renovations.

Bacon says closing was a very difficult professional and personal decision.

Everything inside will go to the highest bidder. Cash Cunningham will host an auction at the restaurant on April 20.

Bacon also owned Brioso by Butterwood at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Williamsville. That restaurant is being renovated and will reopen under new ownership later this year.
