Warming shelters open in Buffalo and Erie County

Warming shelters are now open in Buffalo and Erie County to help those who need a warm place during the winter storm.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo warming shelters will open at noon on Saturday. The warming shelters are for residents in need of shelter.

Warming shelters can be found at the following locations: Delavan Grider Community Center, Gloria Parks Community Center, JFK Recreation Center, Lincoln Field House, North Buffalo Community Center, Tosh Collins Community Center, Asarese-Matters Community Center, West Side Community Services, and Peter Machnica Center.

"I'm at the City Emergency Operations Center meeting with city departments to stay ahead of this winter storm. Thank you to all of the residents who are following and sharing the information we are putting on social media and other outlets," Brown posted to social media.

New York State has three warming shelters opened to help those in need come out of the cold  The shelters are set up with cots, pillows, and blankets,  NY National Guard and the New York State Incident Management Team will operate the site:

  • Erie Community College (South Campus), 4041 Southwestern Blvd, Orchard Park, NY 14203
  • Windom Elementary School, 3870 Sheldon Rd, Orchard Park, NY 14127
  • Orchard Park Middle School, 60 South Lincoln Ave, Orchard Park, NY 14127
