AMHERST, N.Y. — Amherst Police on Friday identified the six people who were taken to hospitals following a January 31 car crash involving an Amherst Police vehicle.
The Amherst Police Department said Officer John Rusch was responding to a call when the crash occurred on Sheridan Drive near Sweet Home Road around 11:57 p.m.
A 20-year-old woman from Centereach, New York, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet and was involved in the crash. She had four passengers in the car, and all five were all taken to Erie County Medical Center.
The five people in the car were identified as Brenna Sullivan, 20; Cara Wojtach, 20; Mary Devaney, 20; Savanna Hinten, 20, and Sophia Calleo, 19.
Cory Nealon, director of news content for the University at Buffalo, told 2 On Your Side that the driver and the passengers are all UB students.
Amherst Police on Friday did not update the condition of any of the six people involved in the crash.
Police said on February 1 that two of the passengers were listed in stable condition, and two others were listed in critical condition. The driver was also taken to ECMC and was listed in stable condition.
Officer Rusch had been taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The crash is still under investigation.
