Amherst Police arrest juvenile for attempted robbery

A 16-year-old boy tried to steal the cell phone of a 20-year-old woman.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Amherst Police arrested a 16-year-old Buffalo resident after he attempted to steal a cell phone Friday afternoon. 

The unidentified juvenile tried to forcibly take the cell phone of a 20-year-old woman on Main Street near Bailey Avenue. An officer witnessed the incident and chased the juvenile on foot. 

The chase continued onto UB's south campus where the officer arrested the boy.

He faces attempted robbery charges and will be in court Monday.
