"Witness" Comes Forward In Seven Year Old Case, Credibility Questioned

A City of Tonawanda mother's quest to find out how her daughter died has taken yet another twist. Seven years ago this month, 20 year old Amanda Wienckowski was found dead on Buffalo's East Side, her nude body had been stuffed into a garbage tote.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - A City of Tonawanda mother's quest to find out how her daughter died has taken yet another twist.

Seven years ago this month, 20 year old Amanda Wienckowski was found dead on Buffalo's East Side, her nude body had been stuffed into a garbage tote.

Authorities ruled that she died of a drug overdose, but her mother, Leslie Meserole, never believed that, and now, Meserole says a new witness has come forward in the case.

Amanda Wiencowski was a troubled young woman when she died.

She was in the grips of a heroin addiction and had turned to prostituting herself to get money to support her habit.

Her body was found across the street from the home of a man who sources have told 2 On Your Side is a "person of interest" in the case - Antoine Garner.

And now, someone has come forward who claims that he saw Wienckowski's body in Garner's home, and helped Garner carry the body to the garbage tote.

But two different sources have told 2 On Your Side that the witness, Thomas Woodman of Clarence, is not credible.

Woodman met recently with investigators from the Erie County District Attorney's office.

On Monday, Scott Brown spoke with acting District Attorney Michael Flaherty who told 2 On Your Side, "I do not want to comment on the credibility, or lack of credibility, of any new witnesses. I am absolutely willing to consider all credible evidence when it comes to this case."

Garner is currently 18 years in prison for three separate crimes that took place after Wienckowski's death, including the rape of a 16 year old girl.

After the medical examiner ruled that Wienckowski had died of a drug overdose, her family hired an independent pathologist to look into Amanda's death, who came to the conclusion that she had been strangled.
