AMHERST, NY- There was a scary scene in Amherst Friday evening when a group of smash and grab thieves hit the Reeds/Jenss store while the store was open for business.
Amherst Police say a group of four black men entered the Maple Road store around 6:30pm, smashed some display cases, and grabbed several high-end watches.
Police estimate the whole incident lasted less than five minutes and credit the staff with getting everyone safely into a back room. No one was threatened and no weapons were displayed.
Investigators say the suspects left the scene in a red or maroon van with no license plates.
