State Police: 4 arrests made after pursuit ends with North Buffalo crash

4 people were arrested, and 2 vehicles were towed away after a pursuit that ended on Hertel Avenue on Friday evening.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Four people were arrested following a Friday chase that involved a vehicle, New York State Police, and Buffalo Police that ended with a crash in North Buffalo.

State Police on Saturday afternoon announced that 19-year-old JaJuan J. Hunt of Buffalo, 19-year-old Kevin L. Tucker of Tonawanda, 18-year-old Dreon D. Jones of Buffalo, and 20-year-old Kahill J. Reeves of Buffalo were arrested in connection with Friday's pursuit. They have been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, obstructing governmental administration, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Hunt also faces charges of unlawful fleeing and reckless endangerment, with State Police saying that he was the one who drove the Jeep, which had been stolen in Orchard Park.

State Police said the sequence of events began at 4:30 p.m. Friday, when troopers attempted to stop a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee on East Delavan Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The Jeep had been reported as stolen.

Hunt did not comply, and the chase began, according to State Police. The Jeep eventually struck multiple vehicles at the intersection of Hertel and Parkside avenues, then came to a stop nearby at Hertel and Wallace.

At that point, the four suspects fled on foot before state troopers and Buffalo Police Department personnel took them into custody.

A loaded 9mm was recovered during the investigation that followed. None of the suspects has a pistol permit.

The four suspects were then processed and taken to the Buffalo Holding Center to be arraigned.

Also assisting in the investigation were the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the state police's Community Stabilization Unit, Buffalo Police, and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
