Man shot in City of Tonawanda; suspect later found deceased

CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. — The City of Tonawanda Police Department is investigation a shooting and suicide. 

Investigators say a 50-year-old man was shot in the neck on Saturday, April 29 in the area of Grant Street.

The man was in a vehicle at the time of the shooting and was driven to DeGraff Medical Park before being transferred to ECMC. 

Police say the suspected shooter drove off in another vehicle. Several agencies assisted in a search, including the Erie County Sheriff's Department Air One, City of Tonawanda/North Tonawanda and Town of Tonawanda SWAT teams, Amherst Police K9 and Erie and Niagara Drone units.

The vehicle was later located behind the Amazon warehouse on Riverwalk Parkway in the Town of Tonawanda. 

Police found a 53-year-old male with with a self-inflicted gunshot wound who was pronounced deceased. 

Investigators say this incident is a domestic situation. Names are not being released pending notification of family.
