Mayville man charged with arson in Jamestown fire

Jamestown Fire and Police were called to a residence on Fulton Street just after 7a.m. for a reported fire.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Mayville man is in custody following a structure fire in Jamestown on Sunday. 

Jamestown Fire and Police were called to a residence on Fulton Street just after 7am for a reported fire.  

Police officers found one victim nearby the residence with serious injuries from the fire.  Police say the victim had jump out of a second story window to get away from the flames. 

That person was taken to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital to be treated and later transferred to another hospital to be treated for their burns. 

Fire investigators determined cause of the fire is arson. 

Following an investigation, police have a person in custody.  Eric A. Courtier, 34, is charged with Arson in the First Degree.  He is currently being held without bail. 

The current condition of the victim is still unknown.
