Deputy injured at Erie County Holding Center

A deputy at the Erie County Holding Center was injured on Friday while working.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Erie County Sheriff's Office reported  one of their deputy's was injured on Friday at the Erie County Holding Center in the City of Buffalo.

According to the Sheriff's office, inmate Anthony Ortiz,22, reached through the bars of his cell and allegedly hit a deputy in the face with his right hand causing a laceration to the inside of the deputy's lip.

 Ortiz has been charged with assault in the second degree and remains in custody pending his arraignment.
