Drunk driver sentenced to 3-6 years for hit and run

A 48-year-old Buffalo man has been charged for a hit-and-run that left a 31-year-old Depew woman dead.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A 48-year-old Buffalo man has been sentenced for a hit-and-run that left a 31-year-old woman dead. 

Buffalo Police responded to a 911 call that indicated that a woman had been hit and in the road on Broadway on February 25, 2023. The woman who was from Depew, was later transported to ECMC where she died. 

Matching the description of the car that the Buffalo Police had been looking for, Cheektowaga Police found the driver Rinaldo R. Pearsons near the border of the City of Buffalo. Pearsons had been driving under the influence of alcohol, hit the woman without reporting the incident and drove away.

Pearsons pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular manslaughter in the first degree, and the highest sustainable charge back in September 2023. 

In his sentencing on Wednesday, April 3, Pearsons was given a sentence of three to six years in prison and his license was revoked.
