Buffalo Police launch investigation into Marine Drive shooting

The shooting happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. Thursday on Marine Drive, where "suspects were possibly attempting to steal property from vehicles."

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police launched an investigation into a shooting that happened Thursday morning on Marine Drive.

The shooting happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. Thursday on the 100 block of Marine Drive, where "suspects were possibly attempting to steal property from vehicles in a parking lot," police said.

One of the suspects, a juvenile, was shot in the leg by another person.

The other suspects fled in a vehicle that was reported as stolen out of Amherst. That vehicle was eventually located in the City of Buffalo, unoccupied. Police did not say exactly where the vehicle was found.

The juvenile who was shot was taken by ambulance to Oishei Children's Hospital and underwent surgery.

A Buffalo Police spokesperson told 2 On Your Side that a retired Buffalo Police officer is being questioned in the case and is cooperating with police.
