2 women sentenced after stealing nearly $170K in Ulta merchandise

Both women agreed to pay full restitution to Ulta.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Rochester woman on Wednesday was sentenced to up to five years in prison for stealing nearly $170,000 in merchandise from beauty stores.

Nahzaire N. Murray, 23, will spend between 20 months to five years in prison. Her co-defendant, 25-year-old Kashmonay U. Holley of Rochester, earlier this year received a sentence of one to three years in prison.

Murray admitted to stealing around $93,000 in merchandise between March 7 and Aug. 24 at various Ulta locations in 2023. Holley admitted to stealing approximately $73,000 during the same period.

"Retail theft is financially devastating for stores, especially our small business owners," Erie County District Attorney John Flynn said in a statement Wednesday. "In addition to the negative economic impact on local businesses and our community, I am deeply concerned about the serious threat that thieves pose to the safety of employees and customers.

"I want the residents of Erie County to know that retail crime will not be tolerated and I am committed to holding shoplifters, particularly repeat offenders, accountable."

Both women agreed to pay full restitution to Ulta.
