16-year-old stabbed, runs to city hall to call for help

Police say a 16-year-old was stabbed during some type of fight involving several other teens.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police are investigating a stabbing involving teenagers that happened on Tuesday afternoon.

The stabbing happened in the area of Court Street and Niagara Square.

Police say one person was stabbed during some type of fight involving several teenagers.

That person was a 16-year-old boy who was stabbed then ran from the scene and ended up in front of Buffalo City Hall.

He was taken by ambulance to Oishei Children's Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Buffalo Public Schools released this statement: 

“Buffalo Public Schools is aware of an incident involving a Hutchinson Central Technical High School student that occurred downtown. The student was taken to a local hospital, and we are awaiting further information from the Buffalo Police.”

Statement from Mayor Brown:

"Behavior like today's incident is dangerous and unacceptable. There have been a number of fights involving large groups of teenagers after school. I urge our young people and in particular, parents to do their part to help resolve these types of situations."
