Wegmans reduces prices on some items to help those still dealing with government shutdown

Wegmans is reducing prices on some items in their grocery stores to help people still dealing with the residuals of the government shutdown.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Wegmans is reducing prices on some items in their grocery stores to help people still dealing with the residuals of the government shutdown.

“One of our local United Way partners let us know there are people still dealing with the consequences of the recent government shutdown.  They asked if we could help.  In particular, they called out the fact that February SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits were paid in advance and that this timing created a challenge in February for some recipients," said Chairman Danny Wegman, in a released statement.

Beginning Saturday, February 16, 2019, through Saturday, March 2, 2019, Wegmans will offer reduced prices on select items, like potatoes, ground beef, chicken, salad and eggs.

All Wegmans customers will benefit from the price reductions, but you will need your Shoppers' Club card.  You can see the full price list here.
