USPS hosting 2 Rochester-area job fairs this month

The positions are for city carrier assistants, rural carrier associate, and mail handler assistant.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Days ago, the United States Postal Service released the initial findings of its review of the Buffalo Processing and Distribution Center on William Street.

The initial findings, released Jan. 27, supported keeping the facility on William Street, while making some upgrades, but also downsizing operations. That could include moving mail processing and outgoing operations to Rochester.

Now the USPS has scheduled two Rochester-area job fairs to fill what it calls immediate openings. The positions are for city carrier assistants ($19.33 an hour), rural carrier associates ( $20.38 an hour), and mail handler assistants ($18.62 an hour).

The first job fair is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Fairport Post Office at 770 Ayrault Road.

The second job fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the Seneca Falls Post Office at 38 State St.
