Former Mazurek's Bakery owners opening new restaurant/bar in Buffalo

Plans call for opening 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., starting with lunch and dinner, with brunch and mimosas coming later.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Niagara Frontier Food Terminal will get its first sit-down restaurant and bar in January with the opening of the Nickel Plate.

The venture comes from Ty Reynolds and Nick Smith, who have leased 8,000 square feet at 1402 Clinton St., a space remodeled back in 2002 for a wholesale grocery store that never opened.

Plans call for a 5,200-square-foot artisan market with products from 125 vendors; a 1,200-square-foot restaurant plus a bar equipped with 12 taps to sell New York state-made beer and wine.
