Proposed consolidation of UPS from Buffalo to Rochester raising concerns

A plan by the United States Postal Service to shift mail processing services out of Buffalo and into Rochester is raising concerns.

Take Compu-Mail, a direct mail marketing company with more than 100 employees on Grand Island.

“We’re looking at this as a business with a very good footprint in Western New York,” said Anthony Marchioni, partner and president of Compu-Mail. “We’re concerned about the deliverability of some of the messages that we’re handling for some of our customers. Because if it has to go from Buffalo to Rochester back to Buffalo to be delivered, how are we finding any efficiencies in this ‘postal plan’ that’s going to make the Post Office return to profitability and streamline operations?”
