BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two longtime Hertel Avenue restaurant are undergoing a series of renovations, including the addition of a new bar.

Updates have already begun at both Bob & John’s La Hacienda and the Wellington Pub next door, both owned by the Hazelet family. Phase one includes new façades at both sites, with funding assistance from the Erie County Storefront Revitalization Program. The work will total at least $300,000 in all.

At Bob & John’s, located at 1543-1545 Hertel, phase one calls for an overhaul of the kitchen with new equipment and infrastructure; improvements to workflow; and updates to the restaurant office, break room and storage. A phase next year will include putting in a full bar in the front dining room of the 7,840-square-foot building.
