Amazon using new Rivian electric vehicles to make deliveries

Your next Amazon package could be delivered in a more earth-conscious vehicle.

TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Amazon's delivery station in Tonawanda is trying something new: using Rivian electric vehicles to make deliveries.

Right now there are more than 120 electric delivery vehicles in use at the Tonawanda facility, meaning that your next Amazon package could be delivered in a more earth-conscious approach.

"When we get into these vehicles, it gives feeling of pride when you drive these electric vehicles," driver and dispatcher Gabriel Vazquez told 2 On Your Side. "They are every safe. We go into these neighborhoods, kids come out, they're smiling, and when people see electric vehicles in their neighborhood, they understand that the area is going to be delivering smiles. ">

Some of the new features include more space, a smoother drive, a 360-degree camera, and an automated lock system for when the driver is out of the vehicle delivering packages. The new electric vehicles also has heated seats and, it keeps itself centered in car lanes.
