Unable to fly, an injured bald eagle receives help

A farmer and property owner in Livingston County spotted a bald eagle that was "stumbling around on the ground" and "unable to fly" on May 13. They called the DEC.

LIMA, N.Y. — Police with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation recently saved an injured bald eagle in a suburb of Rochester.

A farmer and property owner in the Town of Lima in Livingston County spotted a bald eagle that was "stumbling around on the ground" and "unable to fly" on May 13. They reached out to the DEC, which dispatched an officer and a regional wildlife technician to the scene.

They took the eagle to Cornell University’s Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital in Ithaca for an evaluation and treatment of any injuries that it had sustained.

There was no further information about the eagle and its condition from the DEC.
