Newfane teenagers help raise money for animals in need

High school seniors Nathan Snow and Brianna Michalak wanted to combine their love of basketball and dogs, so they organized the Hoops n Hounds event.

NEWFANE, N.Y. — Two teenagers from the Town of Newfane are helping animals in need.

High school seniors Nathan Snow and Brianna Michalak wanted to combine their love of basketball and dogs, so they organized the Hoops n Hounds event.

This past weekend the community came out to play basketball and raise money for Buddy's Second Chance Rescue. The teens also helped collect food, treats, toys, and beds for foster dogs.

People who donated and participated received a T-shirt. There were skill competitions, including a 3-point contest, Knock Out, and Hot Shot, with the winners receiving prizes.
