Festival Fest with Special Guest Star Shark Girl

The best thing to happen to Monday since the three-day weekend returns with a look ahead to what's happening in Western New York.

First of all, I hope you enjoyed Shark Week.

Welcome once again to Festival Fest. If you have not had the pleasure, this is the thing I do where I talk about things to do in Western New York over the summer.

I do it on Mondays because....well, because it's Monday and while we rejoice in our employment, we still toy with the idea of living a life of leisure.

Mondays can be a real drag.

This week I'm starting on Facebook where a guy named Matt thought an event he's involved in would be perfect for Festival Fest, so he left a comment telling a guy named Dave to get on it. You know what Dave did? He got on it!

Aaanyhoo, they'd love for me to enlighten you about Kingdom Bound. It is happening right now.

This is New York State's largest Christian Music and Arts Festival. 40,000 people are expected over the four days of the festival. It runs until August 1 and features more than 60 artists focused on faith.

Kingdom Bound is celebrating its 32nd year and it's all happening at Darien Lake.

The Niagara County Fair in Lockport gets going August 1. It's the largest youth fair in the state.

I looked into it and apparently one of the food vendors sells Reuben logs.

Two things: I wanted you to know, obviously and I really just wanted to say "Reuben logs."

The Cattaraugus County Fair is going on until August 5. It is 176 years old.

So, presumably, they know what they're doing.

The Charlie Daniels Band is there Wed. Aug 1st.

Down Home Country Weekend Tractor Pull and Jamboree is happening August 4 and 5 in Langford.

Just down the road in Eden is the annual Eden Corn Festival.

It runs August 2nd through the 5th.

It's more than corn featuring among other things the chainsaw stylings of Jimmy Keller. As he puts it, "artworks are trapped deep in wood. I set them free."

I say the same thing every time I open a box of wine.

One more thing!

Lewiston Hosts the Spirit of the 80s concert Saturday, August 4. This event actually started as a high school reunion and, well, just like everything in the 80s-- it just got a lot bigger.

That's festival fest. The greatest thing to happen to Monday since the three-day weekend. Have an event to share? Tweet me! Find me on Facebook! Or you can send an email to kate.welshofer@wgrz.com.
