Author creates book on dealing with grief through the eyes of his great dane

Johnathan Worden explores the difficult topic of grief through the eyes of his Great Dane, Duke.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Duke the Great Dane, a familiar face to Most Buffalo, is back with the fourth and final book in the children's book series, "The Great Dane Chronicles."

Local Author Jonathan Worden began writing the books during the pandemic, inspired by his own dogs, and in part to make people more comfortable around the large but loveable creatures.

"For the Love of Duke" tackles a more difficult topic. Ten-year-old Duke lost his older brother, Moose, a couple of years ago.

"This is a familiar topic unfortunately for families," Worden said. "I think it's hard for families to have the conversation. I think sometimes parents, they think about where do I even start with this? They're caught up in their own grief, and so it's about helping a child through their grief."

"For the Love of Duke" and all four books in the The Great Dane Chronicles are available on Amazon and some select local bookstores.
