CASTILE, N.Y. — For at least one day, the weather was perfect for the annual Red, White, & Blue Balloon Rally at Letchworth State Park.
The event started Friday evening, when hot air balloons scheduled to launch between 6 and 7:50 p.m., and will conclude with the final group going up (weather permitting) between 6 and 7 a.m. Sunday.
"A breeze had everyone wondering if pilots would launch or just call it," Letchworth State Park said on Facebook about Friday evening's event. "Then the breeze died, the balloons unfurled, and applause echoed on the field at about 7:40 p.m. It was a flight night!"

More than 20 hot air balloons different colors and designs were expected to take part.
