JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — One man is in serious but stable condition after being shot multiple times late Saturday night, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Officers responded to Newland Avenue near Hazzard Street at around 10:45 p.m. Officers found one man in the street laying next to his car.

Authorities believe the unnamed victim was driving in his car when another vehicle pulled alongside and a person inside fired multiple shots into the victim's car before fleeing the scene. The victim then lost control of his car and ran into a parked vehicle on Hazzard Street. Police found a loaded gun in the victim's car.

Police believe a separate incident happened beforehand between the individuals at a seperate location.

The man was transported at UPMC Chautauqua where he had surgery. He was later transferred to UPMC Hamot, where he is currently in serious but stable condition.

The shooting is believed to be a targeted act.

Police say the suspect vehicle has been located behind a condemned house on Broadhead Avenue. The scene is being processed for evidence.
