A Buffalo Police detective is suspended without pay after being charged with DWI over the weekend.

BUFFALO, NY-- A Buffalo Police detective is suspended without pay after being charged with DWI following an incident over the weekend in Cheektowaga.

Cheektowaga Assistant Chief James Speyer tells 2 On Your Side Mark Locicero, 57, was allegedly backing out of parking space at the Wegmans on Transit Rd. at Losson when he hit another car. It happened shortly after midnight Sunday. Speyer says Locicero refused a breath test.

Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo says the department has opened an internal investigation into the matter.

Locicero was released on an appearance ticket returnable at a future date in Cheektowaga Town Court.
