Pets hope to find forever homes at Western New York adopt-a-thon

The adopt-a-thon brought tons of adoptable dogs and cats under one roof.

CHEEKTOWAGA, New York — Looking to adopt a pet? The Western New York Furtastic Adopt-A-Thon was held Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

If you missed the event, information on how to adopt can still be found online.

In a collaborative effort among local shelters, animal groups, rescues and foster networks, the adopt-a-thon brought tons of adoptable dogs and cats under one roof. Every pet adopted received a free microchip and registration, along with an adopter goodie bag.

The event also featured a variety of family friendly activities, prizes and raffles.

The Western New York Furtastic Adopt-A-Thon took place at the Pvt. Leonard Post Jr. #6251 located at 2450 Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga.

The adopt-a-thon was free to attend.
