Driver charged with manslaughter in fatal 20A crash

New York State Police have charged the driver accused of causing a fatal accident on Route 20A in Wyoming County on Sunday, July 9.

TOWN OF ORANGEVILLE, NY — New York State Police have charged the driver accused of causing a fatal accident on Route 20A in Wyoming County on Sunday, July 9.

Joshua Huntress, of Mayville, has been charged with second-degree Manslaughter, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and several other vehicle and traffic law violations.

Two motorcycles were traveling eastbound when Huntress' vehicle traveling westbound crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the motorcycles, according to police. Two people were riding on each motorcycle and one person was in the other vehicle.

Tomasa Martinez, age 66, of North Tonawanda, was a passenger on one of the motorcycles and was transported to Wyoming County Community Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Huntress was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court and remanded to Wyoming County Jail on a $250,000 cash bail. Huntress will return to Warsaw Town Court on a future date for further proceedings.
