Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputy comforts dog hit by vehicle

The dog was eventually reunited with his owners. He suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputy was captured on camera showing compassion to an injured dog.

According to the sheriff's office, Sgt. Chris Howlett is the deputy in the photo comforting a dog that had been struck by a vehicle. Sgt. Howlett even put his coat over the dog to keep it warm.

The dog was eventually reunited with his owners. It suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

You may have seen a few deputies with a little more facial hair than... usual. This year we participated in No Shave November! Each participant donated money to the Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County. Each donation was matched by our union which raised $5,000!
