9/11 Memorial Healing Field coming to North Tonawanda in 2021

The field will include 3,000 American flags with biographies of each of the people who died on that day.

TONAWANDA, N.Y. — North Tonawanda will honor the lives lost on 9/11 with a Memorial Healing Field at Gratwick Park in September 2021.

Hosted by the Erie Niagara Sunshine Exchange Club, the 9/11 Memorial Healing Field will be held on the 20th anniversary of the attacks in 2021. The field will include 3,000 American flags with biographies of each of the people who died on that day.

The club put together a similar memorial for the 15th anniversary a few years ago.

"There's a whole generation of people that don't understand what took place in 2001," said Robert Pecoraro with the Erie Niagara Sunshine Exchange Club. "And we're doing it to honor and remember and let us never forget those who have sacrificed for our freedoms."
