Erie County reports 3 more coronavirus deaths; total cases top 800

The county now reports 22 deaths, and the number of confirmed cases climbed to 802. The number of people who have recovered is now 141.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Three people in Erie County died Friday of coronavirus, bringing the total to 22.

The number of confirmed cases also climbed to 802, according to the county. The number of people who have recovered is now 141.

Of the 22 people who have died, the breakdown by age is:

  • 10 were in their 80s
  • 6 were in their 70s
  • 3 were in their 60s
  • 1 man was in his 50s
  • 1 woman was in her 40s
  • 1 woman was in her 30s

As for the number of confirmed cases across Erie County:

  • 333 cases in Buffalo
  • 130 in Amherst/Williamsville
  • 57 in Cheektowaga/Sloan
  • 46 in Hamburg/Blasdell
  • 46 in Tonawanda/Kenmore
  • 32 in West Seneca
  • 24 in Lancaster/Village
  • 22 in Clarence
  • 21 in Orchard Park/Village
  • 14 in Aurora/East Aurora
  • 14 in Grand Island
  • 14 in Elma
  • 13 in Alden/Village
  • 8 in Lackawanna
  • 6 in Evans/Angola
  • 4 in North Collins/Village
  • 4 in City of Tonawanda
  • 2 in Newstead/Akron
  • 2 in Wales
  • 2 in Concord/Springville
  • 2 in Boston
  • 2 in Holland
  • 1 in Brant/Farnham
  • 1 in Colden
  • 1 in Eden

During a Thursday afternoon news conference, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz responded to a state executive order requiring unused ventilators upstate be sent to the hot spot of New York City for the time being.

New York has now surpassed the 100,000 mark for confirmed coronavirus cases statewide.

There were also around 600 deaths statewide in the past day, and it's now nearing a total of 3,000.

Here in Western New York, Niagara County now has more than 100 confirmed cases for the first time.
