Dog owner facing animal cruelty charges in North Tonawanda

Police say an anonymous tip led them to an emaciated dog in a cage.

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Two people are facing animal cruelty charges in North Tonawanda.

North Tonawanda Police said the people facing charges are Joseph Barwick, 40, and Dorothy Adama, 47.

Police say an anonymous tip led them to an emaciated dog in a cage.

The female dog, named Sam Sam, will need long-term care. In addition to being malnourished, officials say she has broken teeth from the cage she was kept in and trying to get out. She is responding to treatment and eating small meals.

At this time, police have not released the names of the owners.
