TONAWANDA, N.Y. — It's not too late to pick up a last-minute Christmas tree! Starting at 9 a.m. Sunday morning, donated Christmas trees will be given away to those in need at Philip Sheridan School.

The annual tradition, started by former Erie County Legislator Charles Swanick, began as a way to insure that every family could enjoy a Christmas tree for the holidays.

This year's trees are provided by Northtown Garden Center, with transportation by U-haul.

The giveaway will run from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sunday in the back parking lot of Philip Sheridan School, located at 3200 Elmwood Avenue, in the Town of Tonawanda.

Volunteers will be on site to help load up the trees, and any remaining after 1 p.m. will be left for anyone to take.
