Office Olympian Throws Down "Forgotten Olympic" Challenge to Daybreak

The Olympics have gone through some changes over the years--and not just in host cities. You may be surprised by some of the events that have been featured in the Olympic games in the past. Our Office Olympian dove right into this and now she has issued a "Forgotten Olympics" challenge to the Daybreak team..

Firefighting, hot air ballooning, tug of war, dueling and barrel jumping are just a few of the more surprising events that have been featured in past Olympics.

Office Olympian Kate Welshofer tried out a few "Forgotten Olympic" events in the Channel 2 newsroom along with Daybreak team members Joshua Robinson, Heather Prusak and Kevin O'Neill.

The results were...well, they were weird. Let's just say it. You have to admit, though, it might be fun to bring back some of these more unique competitions.

One Forgotten Olympic event that tops them all in the "Really?" category is the arts competition!

For 40 years, from 1912 to 1952, medals were given out for things like painting, sculpting, literature and music! Imagine watching that unfold live!

This provides the perfect opportunity to bring out that competitive Olympic spirit on Daybreak. The Office Olympian has issued a challenge: Can the team draw its way to GOLD in an old school Olympic throwback art event?

Pete, Melissa, Patrick and Kate will each draw their best Olympic-themed pictures. Daybreak viewers will judge the competition and we'll watch the results unfold on Daybreak Friday morning.

Feel free to join the fun and draw your own pictures and share them with us on social media!
