Red Nose Day the Daybreak Way

Look a little silly to do a lot of good. Red Nose Day is back and NBC has a whole night of special programming aimed at raising awareness and money to fight child poverty.

If you still miss Battle of the Network Stars, you'll love what's happening on NBC tonight. Celebrities are diving into ball pits and putting themselves to the test as part of NBC's night of Red Nose Day programming. Red Nose Day is an effort to lift children in the U.S. and around the world out of poverty. It helps raise money and awareness.

"These are people who have skin in the game and really care about getting

children out of poverty," said Hollywood Game Night host Jane Lynch.

The serious mission behind the silliness has yielded some serious results.

More than $100 million have been raised here in the U.S. in the first three years helping more than 8 million children.

It all comes through donations at the purchase of "red noses" at Walgreens nationwide.

"No child should ever have to face hunger or not have access to education or healthcare," said American Ninja Warrior's Matt Iseman.

A celebrity edition of that show gets the night started. Every obstacle a star conquers means money for the cause.

Superstore's Colton Dunn's spirits are high even if his skills may be, well, needing improvement.

"I think I'm going to do horribly," he joked. "I'm not going to do good at all."

The live Red Nose Comedy Special caps the night.

After wiping out on stage last year just moments into the show, Chris Hardwick returns as host.

Speaking from experience he said, "this could go off the rails at any moment," adding, "even the mistakes are the best part."

It's worth looking a little silly to do so much good.

"There should not be any hungry children and so that is ultimately the goal, to make sure kids are fed and taken care of," Hardwick said.

So suit snoot up! Noses on!
