Buffalo, N.Y. — With the royal wedding right around the corner, you may be inspired to eat like an Englander.
Lucky for you, we've found a place right here in Buffalo.
A classic British phone booth marks the spot.
"Most popular orders...," Mark Buttersworth, an employee of Parker's, pondered. "Fish and chips, definitely. Our pot pies are very popular and without a doubt, sausage rolls. People love the sausage rolls. It's not something you can easily find in the U.S."
Parker's Great British Establishment was once voted the world's best British business. The company is all about bringing authentic U.K. eats to the U.S.
They are a one-stop-shop for your royal wedding party planning.
"I don't know if American's get as excited but British people love it," Buttersworth explained. "So expats all over the country have been placing their orders. They've been getting their pot pies and their sausage rolls and things ready for their street parties or their little house parties that they'll be having all weekend."
Parker's started as a small pie-selling operation and has turned into a full chippee. A chippee is a fish and chip shop.
In addition to the fish and chips, the pork pies and the sausage rolls, they have scones with clotted cream, teas, candies and other condiments...all imported from the U.K.
"One of the things that we're trying to push for now is to give those smaller businesses with the old-style manufacturing techniques, a platform to sell their products in a different country," Buttersworth said.
Parker's has dreams of turning their building into a sort of High Street, much like a row of shops in the U.K., with a cobbled road and maybe even a pub at the end.
"I just think that this area is...I think it needs a little bit of Britishness, you know?" Buttersworth said. "And Buffalo has a lot of people from all over the place, you know? It's quirky but I think it does fit."
Parker's is located on 1216 South Park Avenue in Buffalo. They are open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are open until 8 p.m. on Fridays.
