Pete Gallivan

Pete Gallivan is a Daybreak co-anchor at WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, NY. In addition to his anchor responsibilities, Pete also produces a weekly feature called "Unknown Stories of WNY", which highlights local history.

Pete Gallivan is a Daybreak co-anchor at WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, NY. In addition to his anchor responsibilities, Pete also produces a weekly feature called "Unknown Stories of WNY", which highlights local history.

Pete is a product of the Buffalo Public Schools, graduating from the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts. After high school, it was on to The College at Brockport, where he majored in Communications. Pete was also a two-sport (hockey and soccer) athlete at Brockport.

Pete's career in broadcasting began in 1987 at a small, day-timer radio station in Brockport. He did sales, disc jockeyed, and ultimately became News Director at WASB. From Brockport, Pete's career saw stops on local radio in Canandaigua, Warsaw and Rochester. It was in Rochester where he discovered his passion for visual story-telling, as a reporter at WHEC-TV and later WROC-TV.

In 1996, his hometown called and Pete returned to Buffalo and WGRZ-TV. Since then, he has been a general assignment reporter, weekend anchor, and Daybreak anchor. His reporting has won 2 NYS Emmys, a regional Edward R. Murrow Award and an Associated Press Award. He was also part of the Daybreak team that won an Emmy for best morning newscast.

Pete and his wife Sarah have raised three children, Brenna, Benjamin and Hannah, along with several rescued greyhounds.
