Wind Advisory expires for WNY

Wind gusts Thursday had the potential to reach up to 50 mph within the advised area.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Wind Advisory began Thursday morning and was allowed to expire early in the evening.

It was for for Niagara, Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming counties. Winds will be out of the southwest at 25 to 35 mph during the advisory and wind gusts could reach up to 50 mph, particularly along the lakefront. 

For this time of year, be sure to secure any outdoor holiday decorations. Drivers are being told to use extra caution while on the road.

The same weather system bringing the gusty winds will also bring rounds of scattered showers this morning and afternoon.
