Lake Band Shifting South, Then North

The lake effect snow band is weakening and shifting south tonight, before the weak band lifts north tomorrow before ending.

BUFFALO, NY-- — The lake effect snow band is weakening and shifting south tonight, and should remain across parts of the Southern Tier overnight.

Then the weak lake band will shift north into Erie county Sunday morning, then into Buffalo briefly Sunday early afternoon before ending, as high pressure moves to the south of our area.

The lake effect snow band did produce snowfall totals of up to around a foot late Friday into Saturday, and just over that for some locations including Perrysburg, Sheldon and Sardinia. Close to that in Colden and Warsaw at 9 inches. Half a foot of snow recorded in East Aurora, Boston, and Springville and Silver creek.

Quieter weather is expected later Sunday into Monday before another system comes in and brings more widespread snow on Tuesday and then lake effect snow southeast of the lakes Tuesday night into Wednesday.
