Winter Weather Advisories in effect Thursday night for Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Orleans counties

The greatest snow accumulations are expected in the Chautauqua Ridge, and in areas with the most persistent lake snow, three to five inches are expected.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — Three counties in the Western New York have been issued Winter Weather Advisories for Thursday night, as a few inches of snow and gusting winds are expected overnight.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties from 7 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. on Friday.

The greatest snow accumulations are expected along the Chautauqua Ridge, and in areas with the most persistent lake snow, three to five inches are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds are also expected to gust as much as 35 miles per hour which could cause blowing and drifting snow.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Orleans County from 6 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. on Friday. Three to five inches of snow is possible.

The National Weather Service says that motorists should expect snow covered and slippery roads and low visibility when driving to work Friday morning.
