Flood Warning issued for parts of WNY has expired

The threat of additional flooding has diminished for Wednesday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The  Flood Warning issued Wednesday morning has expired.

According to the National Weather Service, 1-3" of rain fell within a few hours in parts of southern Erie County and northern Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties. Flooding was reported on several roads and many other poor drainage areas.

Route 5 was closed this morning in both directions in the Town of Sheridan because of flooding. NITTEC is now reporting that the closure from Harrington Road to Center Road reopened just after 6:30 Wednesday morning.

This alert impacted places like Springville, Concord, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Evans, Silver Creek, Angola, North Collins, Angola on the Lake, SUNY Fredonia,  Collins, Sheridan, Forestville, Perrysburg, Farnham, Silver Creek Reservoir, Versailles and Langford.  

Drivers should continue to be cautious in this area even though the threat for new flooding has subsided. Areas of ponding may linger into the evening, especially in normally slow drainage areas.
