Catholic Diocese of Buffalo gives reprieve attending church on Sunday due to storm

The Catholic Diocese issued a statement Saturday saying parishioners affected by the snow with travel bans and advisories are exempt from attending Sunday mass.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Western New York Catholics are getting a disposition from attending church this weekend due to the lake effect snow storm.

The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo issued a statement Saturday saying that parishioners in areas affected by the snow with travel bans and advisories are exempt from attending Sunday mass.

"I urge parishes in affected areas to celebrate Mass via livestream if they have the capabilities.  Please check with your parish for their Mass schedule.  It is important for all to remain safe during this storm also allowing time for necessary snow removal and safe travel conditions to be restored," said Bishop Michael W. Fisher.

You can check with your church for the latest information on virtual services.
