Storm Reports from Saturday Evening, Nicer Rest of the Long Weekend

Improving conditions for the rest of the holiday weekend with sunshine.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A beautiful rest of the long weekend with clearing skies for late Sunday night and sunshine on Monday, and average temperatures.

The Saturday storms have passed, after many severe thunderstorm warnings were in effect for most of WNY and N. PA for a time Saturday evening, including a Tornado Warning that was in effect between 7:35pm and 8:04pm Saturday evening for Allegany county, N/NW of Wellsville. No tornado was confirmed.  Several wind damage reports came in from places such as Ashville, Falconer and Frewsburg where multiple large trees were knocked over from gusty winds from thunderstorms.  Several trees down in Akron, Otto, Cuba, Hume, Andover and Great Valley.  Trees and wires were reported down in North Tonawanda, Wheatfield, Lewiston and Newstead. Tree fell on a house in Concord. In Ellicotville Rt 242 was closed due to down powerlines. And a 70 mph wind gust was reported at the Niagara Falls Airport. And a tree was reported down in Great Valley on Rt 4.

Now all quiet the rest of the holiday weekend.

Memorial Day, Monday will have mostly sunny skies and around average highs near 70. Clouds increase for Monday night with storms arriving overnight.

Showers and storms possible at times on Tuesday and Wednesday with warmer highs in the mid to upper 70s.
