National Weather Service confirms weak tornado touched down in Genesee County Monday

The EF-0 tornado rolled two trailers and caused roof damage to three structures in the area, as well as uprooting several trees.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — After severe storms rolled through Western New York Monday night, the National Weather Service in Buffalo conducted a storm survey in Genesee County to investigate the possibility of a reported tornado.

The survey confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down near Alexander, NY in Genesee County around 6:42 p.m. Monday night. The tornado rolled two trailers and caused roof and window damage to three structures in the area, as well as uprooting several trees. 

The path of the tornado started near the Alexander Fire Rec Hall and continued on the ground under lifting near a cemetery on Railroad Ave. 

Maximum winds were estimated to be around 85 mph with an approximate track length of 0.75 miles. The storm was severe warned at the time with a Severe Thunderstorm Warning with a tornado possible tag.
