Heat Advisory continues through Wednesday evening

Near-record high temperatures and intense humidity will keep heat index values in the upper 90s through the afternoon.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A strong southerly flow has brought another quick shot of heat along with a side of high humidity for Western New York.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming counties until 7 p.m. This is when the heat will be most intense, but the high humidity will keep things uncomfortably through late Wednesday evening.

And keep an eye on children, the elderly and pets in this heat as they can be more susceptible to heat related illness.

A cold front will bring a line of gusty thunderstorms through the region between 11 a.m. and 2 a.m. Thursday. Expect breezy conditions behind the front Thursday. Lakeshore Flood Advisories will be in effect from 11 p.m. Wednesday through 2 p.m. Thursday. Persistent winds will lead to some minor lake shore flooding in Chautauqua and Erie counties.
