Funnel cloud spotted Friday evening in Chautauqua County

Active weather rolled through Chautauqua County on Friday evening.

CASSADAGA, N.Y. — As a warm front passed through Western New York on Friday afternoon and evening, a Tornado Warning was issued for parts of northern Chautauqua County around 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service reports that video was shot in Cassadaga of a funnel cloud near Spoden Road and Route 60 around 6:28 p.m.

As those impressive storm clouds moved through the region, gusty winds up to 60 mph, heavy downpours, and lightning were all part of Friday's active weather.

Conditions for Saturday are going to be ideal to stay indoors! Perhaps making it a laundry or cleaning day, watching a movie, or playing board games can be part of the plan. Widespread rain will be moving through tomorrow and it will last through most of the day with some breaks by the late afternoon and evening. Areas in the Northtowns and Niagara Frontier can expect 0.25 to 0.50 inches or rain while areas in the Southern Tier will be picking up between 0.75 to 1.25 inches of additional rainfall by the time Sunday evening rolls around.
