BUFFALO, N.Y. — Lake effect snow showers have eased back for most as this weather pattern winds down.
And while Winter Weather Advisories have been canceled for most, an additional advisory for one county was issued Friday night. A Winter Weather Advisory for Orleans County expired at 1 a.m. Saturday. Additional lake effect snow showers could cause slippery roads overnight.
More light snow may fall today but accumulations will be minimal. Winds have also backed off a bit.
The snow may be diminished, but the cold is still here in full force. With temperatures in the teens and wind chills around 0, there is a small threat for frostbite or hypothermia if precautions aren't taken with an extended period of time to the cold. Wearing multiple layers, covering any exposed skin and limiting time in the cold is the best way to avoid any cold weather health hazards.
Otherwise, this isn't unprecedented cold for Western New York, but a few daily low temperature records for January 29 or 30 could be broken. Wind Chill Advisories could also be issued for a few counties across Western New York for this period as well.
